CART is the acronym for Compensation for Actual Repair Time. This is when your car is damaged and sent for repair, you may be entitled to claim for CART, provided you are not the party at fault. CART is essentially a compensation paid to you by the third party insurance company for the loss of use of your car. The number of days would be as per the loss adjuster reports and NOT the actual days your car is in the workshop.

Insurance companies, at their own discretion, may allow an additional seven working days for any unforeseen or unavoidable delay. A standard scale of daily CART has been specified by the PIAM as follows:–

If you are claiming under Own Damaged, you cannot claim for CART, unless you have opt for additional CART benefits with additional premium.
